I love this book. Robyn's style of writing makes it very user friendly and I love the section on growing greens and also becoming a green smoothie evangelist. This book is packed with loads of practical info on diet/lifestyle/shopping/storage to do with green smoothies. It would make a great present for friends and family because it is very accessible. Just wish it didn't have DIET in the title because this might put people off -it's a different approach to eating and food and a lifestyle change.
I have Victoria Boutenko's green smoothie book as well which I think has more comprehensive recipes and an index so I usually keep it in my bag for when I find a new green and then I can check to see what fruit to blend with it-e.g this week- sorrel with watermelon-yum. They both have different approaches to green smoothie making-Robyn uses some basic easily found greens and fruits but also extra optional ingredients like stevia and agave that are harder to find. In comparison Victoria's recipe is greens/fruit/water which can be easier for a beginner or someone you want to help convert. But some of the greens she uses are not grown or available anywhere or at the local market. I have found once you are drinking green smoothies everyday you move on from having to use specific recipes anyway. But it's nice to have recipes for some variety.
Wish I could get more copies of Robyn's book locally to give as Xmas presents. Border's (Australia) have no listing and it took them 6 months to get me Green Smoothie Revolution after initially saying they couldn't get it. So I ended up with 2 copies after also ordering it from Amazon. I have been drinking green smoothies all year inspired by Robyn's wonderful website and her passion.
I think the perfect green smoothie book would be a combination of both books-Robyn's user friendly style of writing and practical information and advice and the testimonials from people in Robyn's book which I think can help convert a SAD eater to green smoothies and include a combination of both their recipes/and green nutrition facts which I think both books cover really well and an index.
It is definitely not an ad for Blend-Tec blenders as some reviewers have said. When you have been chopping everything really finely all year and after burning out a department store standard blender you appreciate advice on what the best blender is to buy-especially if you are committed to a green smoothie for life lifestyle change like I am...
