I have been following Jamil in Brew Your Own magazine and his podcast on the Brewing Network and always find him knowledgeable and entertaining. I have been a homebrewer for 30 years, both extract and all grain, and this is a book that has the recipes in extract but also converts for all grain recipes. Jamil and John have written an excellent book and they have encouraged this all grain snob to try a full extract brew......burp.....dontcha just love beer!!!! I cannot recommend this book enough for homebrewers. Mosher, in fun, exciting prose, lays out a large swath of brewing techniques, providing lots of information and handy references. After The Complete Joy of Homebrewing Third Edition (Harperresource Book), this is the best book you can buy on the subject. I've made a number of the recipes in this book, and all have been delicious.

Cheap The Bartenders Black Book, Updated 9th Edition

Although this book is designed for and caters to the professional bartender, as an at home bartender, I found this book to be complete and easy to reference any drink I can imagine. It is laid out alphabetically by name, yet there is an index of drinks listed by ingredient in the back to easily find a variety of drinks for any ingredient seeking to use in a mixed concoction. Additionally there is a breakdown of the drink titles by type of drink for researching in the A-Z list (Non-alcoholic, martinis, hot drinks, frozen drinks, shots, shooters, quickies, floaters, and dessert drinks).A lot of useful information for the bartender (professional or at home) with mixing, garnishes, glasses, drink terms, bar lingo and more. A complete wine guide is included as well. Get more detail about The Bartenders Black Book, Updated 9th Edition.

Buying Juicing, Fasting, and Detoxing for Life: Unleash the Healing Power of Fresh Juices and Cleansing Diets

I think a lot of the claims are simply unbelievable. Apparently there's not a condition or malady that can't be cured through extensive juice fasting.
I personally do think there's a good place for the practice, for health maintenance, even for the treatment of some digestive and metabolic issues, and it is a very healthy way to lose weight, done with common sense. But you'd be hard-pressed to find a disease or infirmity that the author doesn't try to pitch juicing as a cure for. And strangely , most of the juice blends prescribed have the same basic ten ingredients. So, you know, you can cure your halitosis and your renal failure with the same glass of juice.
Having said that, there are some blends that I never would have thought of on my own, that turn out to be pretty tasty and to include fruits and vegetables that I've been wanting to get more of in my diet. I think it was worth the price, if only for that reason.
(Beet and spinach juice with lime and mint. So nice!)Get more detail about Juicing, Fasting, and Detoxing for Life: Unleash the Healing Power of Fresh Juices and Cleansing Diets.

Buy Juice Fasting and Detoxification: Use the Healing Power of Fresh Juice to Feel Young and Look Great : The Fastest Way to Restore Your Health

An easy read, Meyerowitz provides a general understanding and explanation of water, juice, liquitarianism, breatharianism fasting. The benefits of each and suggested lengths for fasting. This allows the reader to fast at a rate and with the method (such as drinking only water during the fast vs drinking highly nutritional juices during the fast for example)that is comfortable to them. Although the author considers water fasting the "true fast", he presents options for readers who may not feel comfortable with ingesting only water during their fasting time.

I am a raw foodist and have fasted many times. I refer to my usual fast as a juice "feast" as I drink green juices throughout the fasting period and at a level of comfort knowing that I am nutritionally fed. That "feast" normally runs between 7 and 21 days depending on the season and my tasks at hand. I do however fast for shorter 3-7 day periods drinking only water. The water fast does as Meyerowitz guides, require some scheduling, quiet, lower activity and compassion for one's process of detoxification that occurs.

This book is probably not as appropriately titled as it could be as it reads more about different cleasing options in fasting as well as the benefits of "juicing", colon therapy, and the accessibility of high quality methods of extracting nutrition from vegetables and fruits with juice extraction machines.

I thought the author did a solid job of presenting the basics of cleansing and detoxification. This is not the book for someone who desires an indepth study or discussion of any one of these areas. This book is a quick educational guide for the fasting novice and a confirmation of alternative options available to the experienced fast participant.

The book's main strength is the clarification and offering of considerations that the reader can pick and choose to make that fasting period effective, beneficial and comfortable to them. With varied lifestyle demands, any reader can find at least one of these methods that will fit their schedule and pace demands.

As always in health, take it slowly, learn about your body and allow your fasting regimen to evolve at a pace that is beneficial, cleansing and compassionate to your entire wellness. Where To Buy Drink This: Wine Made Simple

This book really adds nothing new that has not been written about over the last 20 years in the wine world. Dara does state to try a variety of different Chardonnay wines from around the world which is great but does it in a way that no wine shop will have all of these examples. She also does not talk about the importance of vintage which is so critical in the actually quality of a wine. The tasting process is not explained well which is what all beginners should start with. Shop For Windows on the World Complete Wine Course: 25th Anniversary Edition

I had a previous edition of Kevin Zraly's book that was recommended to me by a gentleman who was the regional buyer of wine for a large, national chain of high end steak-house restaurants. This is a wonderful book for people just getting into wine, as well as your "above average" fans of wine. Just this weekend, I purchased 2 copies as gifts for friends. The Complete Joy of Homebrewing Third Edition (Harperresource Book) Top Quality

I picked this up for supplementary information in addition to the instructions that came with my first beer ingredient kit. I found it very helpful and I'd recommend it to anyone new to the hobby. It is divided into three main sections which are packed with subcategories and information:

Especially for the Beginner (I like it because it is a stand alone section with all the information needed to brew your first batch
Betterbrew- Intermediate Brewing
Advanced Homebrewing for the Practical Homebrewer

This has turned into my go-to book. Only two things keep me from giving it 5 stars. First, almost every step in the process is ended by instructions to "Relax...have a homebrew." It's funny the first few times but it quickly gets annoying. Not to mention, if you actually drank that many homebrews during the process, I'm pretty sure you'd be too drunk to actually brew anything! The second thing is the photos. I don't mind the cheesy cartoons so much but not only are the photos illustrating the process very amateurish, but they are also awkward. I'd much rather have more professional photographs and models without the creepy grins.

The best way to learn about wine is to go to tastings, ask a lot of questions of wine shop owners and wine drinkers, and drink a lot of wine. This book, however, will answer many, if not most, of your questions, and help you focus your questions, and your tastings, as you progress.

The Widow Clicquot: The Story of a Champagne Empire and the Woman Who Ruled It (P.S.) Best Quality

Upon the death of her husband, Francois Clicquot , Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin joined Alexandre Jerome Fourneux in a business partnership in 1806 and founded Veuve Clicquot Fourneaux & Co.. She immediately took an active role in the business, participating in the crafting of her own Champagne and within four years was in charge of the business which became Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin & Co.. The Widow Clicquot's risky decision to arrange to transport her wines from the 1811 or "comet" vintage to Russia for sale after the fall of Napoleon saved her company and led to the internationalization of Champagne. She continued at the helm of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin & Co. until 1841, when at the age of 64 she retired. To this day, Champagne Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin is the only elite Champagne house with a woman (Madame Cécile Bonnefond) at the helm.

In the 1800s everyone knew of the Widow Clicquot, but few understand anything about the woman behind the yellow label. Scant details of her life have been preserved. Her personal letters did not survive and there is little biographical record. It is to the author's credit that she was able to recreate the life story and provide new insight about this unique woman. Mazzeo does write at times with considerable speculation, but her grasp of history makes the whole story very plausible. The book has extensive scholarly references and bibliography, but only one photo of the Widow Clicquot in her later years and no photos of early Champagne bottles or labels.

This book is valuable for the educational information about Champagne that is interjected throughout its pages. Here are just a few of the little known facts about Champagne that I learned:

* Champagne was discovered by the British, not the French. Sparkling wine appeared in England by the 1660s, decades before it was sold in France. Wine was shipped from France to England in wooden casks. The British wanted to better preserve the wine so they put the wine in bottles where the wine underwent a secondary fermentation. The British added sugar to the bottles, creating Champagne by the 1670s, a decade before it was produced in France.

* Early on, in the 1790s, Champagne was a dessert wine, very sweet, served cold and brownish pink in color due to added brandy and skins of grapes. There were only blanc de noirs (white and red grapes).

* Dom Pierre Perignon did not invent Champagne. That was a marketing ploy by the region's Champagne producers at the 1889 World Exhibition in Paris. In reality, Dom Perignon was given the task of getting rid of bubbles that were ruining still wines of the time. A secondary fermentation occurred in wines stored over the winter in sealed wood casks and when the weather warmed in the spring, a secondary fermentation occurred creating bubbles in the so-called "devil's wine." There was little market for sparkling wine at the time. Dom Perignon was a pioneer of blending.

* The older a Champagne is, the smaller the bubbles become. Bubbles do not affect taste. Since vintage Champagne is aged extensively creating smaller bubbles, the quality of high quality Champagne is often attributed to small bubbles.

* Vintage Champagne must be aged a minimum of 3 years, some of the best are aged 7-8 years. After disgorgement, Champagne rarely improves with cellaring.

* The Widow Clicquot discovered remuage, a system of clearing Champagne yeast debris trapped in the bottle after secondary fermentation by riddling.

* Barbe-Nicole Clicquot was one of the first winemakers to use labels on her bottles in 1814.

* The signature of Barbe-Nicole Clicquot is on every orange label Champagne that bears her name. Get more detail about The Widow Clicquot: The Story of a Champagne Empire and the Woman Who Ruled It (P.S.).

The Search for God and Guinness: A Biography of the Beer that Changed the World Buy Now

God and Guinness combined in the title of the book seemed like such an unlikely combination that I was drawn to this book, and I am glad that I was. This is an enjoyable, easy read that furthered my education about religion and about my favorite brew, Guinness Stout.

The first 35 pages brought me new perspectives on beer, it's history and it's connection to religion. My guilt for enjoying a brew was wiped away when I learned that Luther and Calvin both considered beer a gift of God. (Even if you only read the first 35 pages you will be glad you bought the book.)

The remainder of the book provides a history of the company, the lines of work followed by the Guinness family. There was the brewing side of the family, the banking side of the family and the side of the family that tended to the call of God. Each side of the family has had a tremendous impact in their respective areas.

For me, the book provided new perspectives that were decidedly different than some of the ones presented in my youth. The book has cleansed the taint that beer had for me and reinforced the sentiments of Ben Franklin when he said, "Beer is proof that God loves us."
I highly recommend reading this book.Get more detail about The Search for God and Guinness: A Biography of the Beer that Changed the World.

Judgment of Paris: California vs. France and the Historic 1976 Paris Tasting That Revolutionized Wine Order Now

I knew a little bit of the history of the Paris judgment. Since this book is told by someone present there, it is the most reliable source of information. I think the history is very interesting on itself. I just though the author could do better... He takes a lot of pages on the story of the wine makers, which is interesting but too much detailed. The judgement itself has much less space, and I think the author could have taken it longer. After the judgment and its repercussion the author takes a lot more on considerations on all world regions...
It is all interesting, but I had bought the book for the Paris judgement, not for the author's opinion on South African wines.Get more detail about Judgment of Paris: California vs. France and the Historic 1976 Paris Tasting That Revolutionized Wine.

Green Smoothies Diet: The Natural Program for Extraordinary Health Decide Now

I love this book. Robyn's style of writing makes it very user friendly and I love the section on growing greens and also becoming a green smoothie evangelist. This book is packed with loads of practical info on diet/lifestyle/shopping/storage to do with green smoothies. It would make a great present for friends and family because it is very accessible. Just wish it didn't have DIET in the title because this might put people off -it's a different approach to eating and food and a lifestyle change.

I have Victoria Boutenko's green smoothie book as well which I think has more comprehensive recipes and an index so I usually keep it in my bag for when I find a new green and then I can check to see what fruit to blend with it-e.g this week- sorrel with watermelon-yum. They both have different approaches to green smoothie making-Robyn uses some basic easily found greens and fruits but also extra optional ingredients like stevia and agave that are harder to find. In comparison Victoria's recipe is greens/fruit/water which can be easier for a beginner or someone you want to help convert. But some of the greens she uses are not grown or available anywhere or at the local market. I have found once you are drinking green smoothies everyday you move on from having to use specific recipes anyway. But it's nice to have recipes for some variety.

Wish I could get more copies of Robyn's book locally to give as Xmas presents. Border's (Australia) have no listing and it took them 6 months to get me Green Smoothie Revolution after initially saying they couldn't get it. So I ended up with 2 copies after also ordering it from Amazon. I have been drinking green smoothies all year inspired by Robyn's wonderful website and her passion.
I think the perfect green smoothie book would be a combination of both books-Robyn's user friendly style of writing and practical information and advice and the testimonials from people in Robyn's book which I think can help convert a SAD eater to green smoothies and include a combination of both their recipes/and green nutrition facts which I think both books cover really well and an index.

It is definitely not an ad for Blend-Tec blenders as some reviewers have said. When you have been chopping everything really finely all year and after burning out a department store standard blender you appreciate advice on what the best blender is to buy-especially if you are committed to a green smoothie for life lifestyle change like I am... Santa are you listening??Get more detail about Green Smoothies Diet: The Natural Program for Extraordinary Health.

The Naked Pint: An Unadulterated Guide to Craft Beer Right now

I bought this book soon after moving to Portland so that I could investigate further the mystery of beer. It is a good read, but the layout is questionable. There is little flow and the book is broken up by recommendations and tasting notes. Perhaps the authors could have listed these in a separate chapter. I was looking for a book that discussed in depth the variances in styles of beer and production methods, and while they touched on these subjects, I found myself with my internet window open so that I could look up the style and delve deeper into the production methods. If you are new to beer then I recommend this book. If you are well versed in beer, you might like it, but I found it useful with [...] opened so that I could read more in depth about the styles.Get more detail about The Naked Pint: An Unadulterated Guide to Craft Beer.

Low Price The Billionaire's Vinegar: The Mystery of the World's Most Expensive Bottle of Wine

Throughout this well-written and thoroughly researched book is the timeless truism known by every con artist in history...people are taken in because they WANT to be taken in! Hardy Rodenstock...an alias, and a moniker Charles Dickens would have loved...knew he could count on the greediness and the inflated egos of super rich wine snobs who wanted only to have the BEST, the MOST EXPENSIVE, the RAREST wines in existence. Rodenstock got away with his blatant sleight of hand because no one wanted his cover blown, not the rare wine expert at Christies, not the billionaires slapping down mind-boggling sums for those dusty bottles inscribed with "Th.J" not even the representatives of the prestigious wineries in question. It was all good for business, and so long as none of the marks ever questioned Rodenstock's provenance or expertise, they could count on inclusion on the guest list for the biggest wine orgies on Earth (Ahem...men only, don't you know. Women were "...a distraction" sniffed one participant). It brings to mind the more recent Madoff scandal, and how common sense and due diligence are so often sacrificed on the altar of greed. In "Billionaire's Vinegar," it took an American oil tycoon, Bill Koch, with determination of steel to finally reveal the German emperor's shoddy wardrobe...maybe. As previous reviewers have noted, the book ended before the elusive Rodenstock could be brought to justice.

The book is peppered with great characters, true eccentrics, and some of the best drawing room cat fights I've read in a long time. The evil glee that Michael Broadbent from Christies felt over the upbraiding his Sothebys rival received from Philippine de Rothschild for her "pretentious" use of French was a visceral delight! And the gung-ho investigators hired by Bill Koch to nail Rodenstock once and for all were right out of a "Sopranos" episode.

For us mere wine mortals who get a thrill from pouring a simple glass of good Oregon pinot or a fine Leonetti, this was a happy vicarious ride through a whole other world. But in the end, one I would prefer to read about rather than know first hand! Get more detail about The Billionaire's Vinegar: The Mystery of the World's Most Expensive Bottle of Wine.

Save Green Smoothie Revolution: The Radical Leap Toward Natural Health

In the past 2 years I have really gotten into the raw foods diet and although I do not practice it as much in the winter I still try to get in at least one raw meal a day (we live in VT and produce is not so great in the winter). Somedays this means just keeping it simple and having a green smoothie usually for breakfast, sometimes at lunch. The recipe book Green Smoothie Revolution by Victoria Boutenko has been a great resource for making some delicious green smoothies as well as providing a ton of information about green smoothies in sections such as The Importance of Rotating Greens in Your Smoothies and Food Combining in Green Smoothies.

The second part of this book features:

Tips and Tricks for Smoothie Preparatoin
Green Smoothies for Beginners
Supergreen Smoothies
Savory Green Smoothies and Soups
Green Smoothies for the Adventurous Souls
Green Puddings
Green Smoothies for children
Green Smoothies for Pets
Green Smoothies for Body Care
So far I have been mostly playing around with recipes from Green Smoothies for Beginners, Supergreen Smoothies and Green Smoothies for Children however I am interested in trying some green soups and puddings soon. The great part about this book is the variety of recipes there are, 200 to be precise, that are all fun and different. The recipes use a variety of greens to keep things interesting as well as a number of great fruit and veggie combinations. My favorites (so far) have been the Medallion Melon which is simple cantaloupe and romaine- simple and delicious. However, my absolute favorite and so far go to smoothie has been the Winter Green Smoothie which is berries, spinach, water and ginger- soooo good.

Over all this is a great book for those interested in raw foods, green smoothies and healthy new ways to get greens into ones diet. Get more detail about Green Smoothie Revolution: The Radical Leap Toward Natural Health.

Discount What to Drink with What You Eat: The Definitive Guide to Pairing Food with Wine, Beer, Spirits, Coffee, Tea - Even Water - Based on Expert Advice from America's Best Sommeliers

I've been a fan of Dornenburg and Page's work since I acquired "Culinary Artistry," and I applaud this volume for its approach and content. Being a food and drink fan and an enemy of wine snobbery, I am glad to see works such as this one that show people that no serious wine education is needed to begin appreciating the sensual pleasures of the table. At the same time, the case is clearly made that educating yourself through tasting is not only enjoyable in itself, but also imparts knowledge and experience that will better guide future choices.

I think the book is accessibly written for a general audience, and although I only have had it since Christmas Day, 2009, I've pored through it extensively and consulted it for suggestions, including for the French sparkler and Chinese dumplings with soy sauce I enjoyed for my just-concluded evening meal.

All this being said, the work is quite badly edited. It is replete with typographical errors, including spelling (the most common) and missing accents. As well, the wrong terms are used for some wines. For example, a Spanish wine that has the legal term "Reserva" in its name is, in the book, termed a "Riserva." That's the Italian spelling and legal term, not the Spanish. There are sometimes multiple typos on a single page, some for more obscure terms, but others a bit more obvious ("Burdundy" for "Burgundy"). In an award-winning food/drink industry book that has been published by a larger house there is simply no excuse for this level of editorial malpractice. After all, can readers trust content that has so many basic mistakes? Dornenburg and Page have provided us with an enjoyable and useful book, and their work doesn't deserve to have a loss of confidence because of these errors.

An older review on Amazon has pointed out other sorts of mistakes, such as a reference to Cab Sauvignon shining in Pomerol, in Bordeaux. Not really, since that region is the home of Merlot in excelsis. I don't think content errors such as these are nearly as common, but they are also present. The work has gone through multiple printings--why have these errors not been corrected in a new edition?

All in all, I look forward to Dornenburg and Page's works, and I do recommend this one. However, I can't help but add, caveat emptor.Get more detail about What to Drink with What You Eat: The Definitive Guide to Pairing Food with Wine, Beer, Spirits, Coffee, Tea - Even Water - Based on Expert Advice from America's Best Sommeliers.

Cheap Tender Bar, The

One of the most enjoyable reads of my life. The author uses his interactions with people in a bar as the crux of the book's "plot," and you wouldn't think that would make for much of a hook, but the writing is so consistently good and the tugs at the heart strings are so palpable that this book should join some type of literary canon. Also, nicely, few books can make me laugh out loud, and this one did several times.

I don't think you can go wrong with this book. Bravo to the author. If you like this book you should read the Agassi memoir, because this author ghost wrote the book for Andre.Get more detail about Tender Bar, The.

Buy Green for Life

Yes, it's super important for us to eat lots of greens, and most people don't understand just how much of it we really need. However, exclusively eating greens, or plant matter of any kind, isn't healthy. Humans are omnivores and our digestive systems and bodies in general were designed to eat meat AND green leafy vegetables. The way we ate long long ago when we were hunter gatherers is the closest thing to comparing our diet to chimpanzees. we knew what our bodies needed then, unlike now. the hunter gatherer diet is basically just meat and veggies (mostly non-carby ones) and a little bit of nuts and fruits. that's it. there is no traditionally vegan society in the world for a reason. all food traditions have some form of meat or dairy in them, even if they don't know it. there was only one traditionally vegan culture they found and it was in india. but the researchers discovered that the reason it worked for them is because, since they lived in a jungle setting, there was larvae growing all over their food that they couldn't see, and they were eating tons of it.

so, i think there is some valuable information in this book, i think it's super important to eat tons of greens, and i think this issue of not enough HCL (hydrochloric acid) is a big one that applies to a large population of people in modern times. but exclusively eating greens, or exclusively eating a raw vegan diet, is just not healthy. there are a host of essential nutrients that you just don't get through that diet, and there's just no way of getting the amount of protein that our bodies need. it messes up your hormones, throws off your metabolism, strains your thyroid, and causes a chain reaction of one problem after another. So, if you're reading this book, use the recipes, but don't see it as your exclusive diet. eat some meat too. if you have an idealogical issue with that, think of it this way: how many bugs died to harvest your bowl of cereal or rice? is the life of an insect less important than the life of an animal? is the life of an animal more precious than the life of a plant? animals eating other animals is just a fact of life, however ugly. so, unless you want to go around telling all the carnivorous animals in the world that they're wrong, i suggest coming to terms with these facts. good luck to everyone in search of the right diet for them :)Get more detail about Green for Life.

Purchase Kitchen Confidential Updated Ed: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly (P.S.)

I'm not going to bother going over the details of this book. Lots of others have done that very well here. I will say, in case you missed this along the way, that this book is 'adult' only material. If you don't want to read crude words and activities, hear about minorities and women being harassed, etc. Skip this. Trust me it won't ruin your life not to read it. Also, if reading about some filthy kitchens and mishandling of food will put you off ever eating out again, skip this book. Personally I can't tolerate crudity very much. I did read all of this book however, for several reasons. And I sometimes laughed out loud while doing it.
First of all -- This guy loves food. This love oozes off the pages. I kept reading.
Next -- Anthony Bourdain is obviously an adrenalin junkie. Reading Kitchen Confidential is like watching a train wreck that never quite happens. You keep waiting for the author to either get back on the rails or fly off completely. I felt a bit voyeuristic at times, so mesmerized was I to see what awful thing would happen next.
Finally -- Bourdain is honest about himself and his life. He admits his mistakes, his self centeredness, and the many opportunities he wasted. He also doesn't pretend that in the end those mistakes didn't matter. He's honest, occasionally uncomfortably so. Perhaps what endeared the book to me was his admission near the end that he is not a 3 star chef, he couldn't be one if he wanted to, and he's OK with that. After the endless parade of over-inflated egos one sees on TV, this was refreshing. Thanks for being honest, chef.Get more detail about Kitchen Confidential Updated Ed: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly (P.S.).

Detailed "what to do in each case" studies cover problems faced by the more skilled brewer. The author is not afraid to make measurements of chemical properties, explain what's happening in each step, and go beyond recipes into the whys of each ingredient.Get more detail about How to Brew: Ingredients, Methods, Recipes, and Equipment for Brewing Beer at Home.

This cook book is wonderful! They have a wide variety of dishes, ranging from something similar to McDonald's egg McMuffin to BLT Burgers to BBQ Bacon Meatloaf, and the completed dishes are actually TASTY! My fiancee was a bit skeptical when I first started talking about this cookbook (especially after trying a few other not-so-tasty diets)! We have tried several of the recipes in the past couple weeks and have not come across one we didn't like. The best part about this book is - it's more of a "lifestyle change" than a "diet". What you're eating doesn't taste like diet food! The cookbook tells you the nutritional information per serving for each dish - and ONE SERVING is often filling enough to be considered the main part of the meal - add some green beans, a slice of whole wheat bread and dinner is served! I loved this cookbook so much I bought the orignal one, and will be scoping out recipes in that one soon!Get more detail about Biggest Loser Family Cookbook: Budget-Friendly Meals Your Whole Family Will Love.

Book review on Biggest Loser Family Cookbook: Budget-Friendly Meals Your Whole Family Will Love

I checked out this book from the library because I wanted some new ideas for some healthy recipes for my family. The recepies are great and they are for the most part easy to follow and all of the ingrediants can be found in any local grocery store. That is a plus because there have been so many times that I have bought a cookbook but have had to shop in a specialty store just to find the ingrediants. Who has the time and money to do all that?

My biggest complaint in this book is the nutrition information listed on page 9. It states to use the following equation to calculate your daily calorie needs in order to lose weight. (your present weight x 7) and then the paragraph below states that you you weigh more then 300 lbs start by eating 2,100 calories a day and if you weigh less then 150 pounds, plan to eat around 1,050 calories a day. That is way to few calories and it is very dangerous to eat this low for weeks or months on end. Sure you will lose weight at first but you will also be starving yourself and as soon as you start eating a healthy amount of calories all that weight will come right back on. 1,050 calories is hardly enough to give the body energy to sit at a desk all day much less exercise as the book suggests doing in order to lose weight.

So use the book for the recipes but discard the nutrition information.
