Tea with Friends Top Quality

I was very disappointed in the lack of any substantial material which would give tips on how to plan a tea party. Especially lacking were the recipes that were referenced -- only one recipe for each event was printed. How are you supposed to plan a party when you don't have all of the recipes??

Considering the author has all of the experience outlined in her reviews, she does not share much with the reader that you could not find in any other book about tea. I don't believe this is a credible resource for planning a tea event.Get more detail about Tea with Friends.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Juicing This instant

I purchased my juicer last Christmas and have searched the eight months since for a "cook book" that had real recipies and was not laced with make-believe pseudo science on nutrition as a substitute for recipes. This one is it. Good recipies. No nonsense. Bordeaux Best Quality

Although it starts out well, promising profound insights into the oenophile, Wilberforce, this book devolves into a half-hearted morality tale on alcoholism, but then veers into the utter self-absorption of the main character. Add in the allusions to plot points never explored, and I felt that there was another book, somewhere, that might answer all of the questions raised, but never addressed...

Medellin? The poor appraisal of the undercroft? The first names, Francis? The unknown parentage?

WTF.

Immensely disappointing.Get more detail about Bordeaux.

Tea and Sympathy Get it now!

I really like this book, not only for the yummy recipes but for the slice of life it portrays. I'm a Brit too & liked the idea of having a little embassy that feeds you too in NYC. I've tried several of the recipes & they all turned out well. Get more detail about Tea and Sympathy.

Brown Ale: History, Brewing Techniques, Recipes (Classic Beer Style Series, 14) Order Now

It has a very appetizing cover photo. Brown Ale tends to be a misunderstood style these days, and this book's clarification of its history and present state is a relief. One highlight for me was the proposal of separating the American style of brown ale into the hopped-up Texas-style and then American-style brown ale, which is demonstrated by analyzing a cross-section of samples from across the country. The history goes way back, further than you might guess, and the explanation of malting and brewing techniques from early to modern times is enlightening. Recommended reading, even for extract brewers.Get more detail about Brown Ale: History, Brewing Techniques, Recipes (Classic Beer Style Series, 14).

How To Make Quality Liqueurs & Cordials at Home. Right now

This book was extremely disappointing. I bought it expecting it to talk about how to make cordials, instead it teaches how to mix alcohol and syrup. To me, cordial making starts with a raw ingredient (fresh fruit, nuts, herbs, and/or flowers) and then continues from there. If you are interested in learning how to begin making cordials or in gaining new ideas or techniques, look elsewhere. The reason it is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because there is a little bit of useful information on making extracts, but that informaiton is definitely not worth the price of the book.Get more detail about How To Make Quality Liqueurs & Cordials at Home..

Save Blue Trout and Black Truffles: The Peregrinations of an Epicure

Though Blue Trout and Black Truffles is billed as Culinary journey, and it is at that, it is also something completely unexpected, an introduction to European life in the 1920s through 1940s. The exploration of food and wine is coupled with vibrant characters and unforgettable settings. Get more detail about Blue Trout and Black Truffles: The Peregrinations of an Epicure.

Discount Women of the Vine: Inside the World of Women Who Make, Taste, and Enjoy Wine

I did enjoy reading this book and hearing the backstories behind the talented, driven women in the wine industry. The stories were quite inspirational. Undoubtedly there was a great deal more suffering than was portrayed in the stories in the book. These women are the survivors of a very tough era for women in this industry and have earned their stripes through talent and hard work.

I did find the informality of the writing style distracting. Regarding one profile in particular the subject is probably more intelligent than my initial impression. But this initial impression was probably created by the writer's style.

Putting that complaint aside, I would call this recommended reading for anyone who wants to have a well rounded view of wine and winemaking. And from a marketing standpoint it is thought provoking that marketing a wine successfully means making the product appealing to women as well as men.Get more detail about Women of the Vine: Inside the World of Women Who Make, Taste, and Enjoy Wine.

Cheapest The Coffee House: A Cultural History

Ellis's book was the first in a now frothy wave of books on the current phenomenom of coffee houses sweeping the globe. Its a good read - full of factual information, but with touches of sardonic wit and a great ability to generate memorial lines that succinctly sum up the period. Fantastic info on historical relevance to the fight against the political ruling class in Britain in the 18th century. Well-brewed, without a hogoe of sirreverence...Get more detail about The Coffee House: A Cultural History.

Buying Michael Jackson's Beer Companion: The World's Great Beer Styles, Gastronomy, and Traditions

As a homebrewer, I found this book to be very helpful in creating recipes for various styles of beer. He goes into good detail about them and provides descriptions of a few primary examples of styles. If I have any criticism it would be that I would have done away with the "cooking with beer" articles at the end of the book (you can find better and more comprehensive info elsewhere) and instead added more info about obscure beer styles such as American Stock Ale, Baltic Porter, Kellerbier, Finnish Sahti, Kentucky Common Beer, etc.Get more detail about Michael Jackson's Beer Companion: The World's Great Beer Styles, Gastronomy, and Traditions.

Buy Hip Sips: Modern Cocktails to Raise Your Spirits

This little book is just the thing if you want non-traditional cocktail drinks. The Cilantro Martini was amazing and even better when I used basil in place of the cilantro. The book is hip and modern and the drinks haven't failed me once. Plus I love surprising people with the ingredient lists, after they have tasted and enjoyed.
