Nowhere is there a more profound recording of the liturgy of tea as practiced in the Japanese culture. The author is immanently qualified, being the 'Grand Teamaster of Japan' following more than a score of others in his lineage. The technical aspects are overshadowed by the personal involvement -- bonding -- with the practice. A wonder for me, an American, to participate vicariously in the deepest reflection of the virtues of Japanese culture. A bonus is the calligraphy that graces this little book -- full pages, stunning. This book inspired me to become the Teamaster of a Sangha.Get more detail about Tea Life, Tea Mind.

Lowest Price Wine for Women: A Guide to Buying, Pairing, and Sharing Wine
I found this book to be easy to use. It is very comprehensive in terms of the grape varietals it covers. I like that it gives some "context" into where the wines are grown, so even if you're unable to buy the exact wine mentioned in the book, you can use the information to select an alternative. Additionally, I enjoyed the fact that the author covers not only California or Europe vintages....but other countries and states as well.Get more detail about Wine for Women: A Guide to Buying, Pairing, and Sharing Wine.

Low Price The Wine Log: A Journal and Companion
Got this for my birthday. So far I like it but there are a few things I dont.
First let me say that the beginning of the book consists of information on tasting, smelling, reading labels etc.. It is only mildly helpful information.
The book is then divided into reds, whites, and sparkling wines. For me, it is difficult to find the section I want. The sections are not clearly marked throughout each section. I end up flipping through the book searching to find if I am in the whites or reds section. I wish they had color coded the edges of the pages, or even just noted what section you are in at the top of each page..something like that.
What is included on each page I think is just the right amount of information. The type of wine, winery, vintage, origin. Space for descriptions of the aroma/bouqet, color, flavor, and overall impression. There is also space for the date, price you paid, where you drank it, and whome you shared it with. It is true there is no room for wine labels, but I don't think it was meant for that, it is a smaller book, meant to be able to take to restraunts etc..
I agree with the previous reviewer, for a travel wine log, the size is a little awkward as it is just about too big to fit in my pocket comfortably. Usually my wife must put it in her purse. Overall I am happy. I think this is an excellent wine log for those who enjoy wine and have an interest in keeping track of the wines they have tasted. Probably is not detailed enough for the serious wine enthusiast. And as I said, the size is borderline too big for pocket travel. But I am keeping it and using it and enjoying itGet more detail about The Wine Log: A Journal and Companion.

Save Raw Vegetable Juices: What's Missing in Your Body
This book contains information about vegetable juices and what they are good for in your body. It also explains why cooked food may actually be bad for you. The information is not presented in recipe format, more like scientific format. Dr. Walker lived to be 114 years old and juiced for 70 years. His companion book "Diet and Salad Suggestions" should be purchased as well. He invented the Walker juicer which produces the finest quality and quantity of juice available. A must read for raw food enthusiasts. If you are also interested in losing weight, or fixing diabetes, read "There is a Cure For Diabetes" by Dr. Gabriel Cousens. Great life plan for vibrant health.Get more detail about Raw Vegetable Juices: What's Missing in Your Body.

Discount Pacific Northwest Wining and Dining: The People, Places, Food, and Drink of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia
Braiden has captured the unique flavors of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and B.C. with her lively commentary of the distinct ingredients you can find there. Her profiles of people and places make me want to visit each and every destination. If I can't get to that farm or winery, at least I can make the meal myself - and pour a glass of Braiden's hand-picked Northwest wine recommendations to accompany it.
The recipes are easy and delicious, inspiring us to use local, seasonal and sustainable ingredients. So far, our family favorites are the Grilled Asparagus Salad with Prosciutto, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and Balsamic Vinaigrette and the Dungeness Crab with Ginger-Cilantro Mayonnaise! Cheapest Use Wine to Make Sense of the World
As a young man, a mentor advised me to find common ground with opponents over food and wine. They are the common denominators that all people share. It's on that kind of gut level that I find myself responding to Elliot Essman's book, Use Wine To Make Sense of the World. This is not just another wine book explaining the unique qualities of terrior in Argentina or the use of IGT designations in Tuscany. This book is written on that gut level where we all try to understand ourselves, where we struggle to relate to other people, where we cry, where we sing, and where we live our everyday lives. To this end, the book is not just for "wine people", but for everyone looking to understand themselves through a differnet and sensitive pair of eyes.Get more detail about Use Wine to Make Sense of the World.

Cheap Compass American Guides: California Wine Country, 5th Edition
We just spent a week in Napa Valley and this book did not leave our car the entire trip. This book covers the major areas of Napa (St. Helena, Calistoga, etc), Sonoma, other popular wine regions in Cali, though a majority is dedicated to Napa. It essentially includes the highlights and must sees as well as some "off-the-beaten-path" wineries. It's also evident the writer visited each and every winery mentioned there is a spot on description (full paragraph) of the wineries which includes details about the atmosphere, a brief history, what to expect at tastings, etc. It's also loaded tips and suggestions for wine country - biking trails, scenic drives, tasting room etiquette, etc.
This is definately recommended for first timers. Get more detail about Compass American Guides: California Wine Country, 5th Edition.

Purchase The Complete Bartender (Updated)
Bought this book specifically because I needed a recipe for the "Remus gin fizz" and was disappointed.
While it does cover the basics i.e. the equipment list it has one, but it does not offer any guidance or recommendations on the equipment. for example that the strainer in unnecessary if you know how to use the Boston shaker.

Cocktails By Jimmy Late Of Ciro's 1930 Reprint Review
This historical bar guide is sort of a split personality. For the history, I'd give it five stars. The great toasts and drinks of a London which doesn't easily come to mind. However, it's a hard book to use today. Neither the gins nor the mixers have survived quite intact. And it's not clear if when you make substitutions what you get is what was intended. In particular, some of the drinks I made from the book did not seem to turn out very well. I suspect it's ingredients. The tropical/rum vintage drink books seem to survive better their translation through time.Get more detail about Cocktails By Jimmy Late Of Ciro's 1930 Reprint.
