Where To Buy Culinaria France (Culinaria Series)

this book is a full immersion into French culture and history. The book is divided by France's regions and their traditional products. There is an introduction about cheese, bread, utensils, kitchen personnel, and types of restaurant classifications. The wines from each region are featured in detail. This is not a book for those looking for a cookbook. This is a guide book of France's epicurean rituals.Get more detail about Culinaria France (Culinaria Series).

Drink: A Cultural History of Alcohol Top Quality

This is a well researched and engaging book. I carried it around with me while i was reading it, and had many conversations with people who noticed it.
I would have liked more about microbreweries, but thats another book in itself i suppose.Get more detail about Drink: A Cultural History of Alcohol.

The Brewers Association's Guide to Starting Your Own Brewery This instant

I found this book high on generalities and low on specifics. If you are a person with a lot of commercial brewing experience but little business acumen, you will probably like this book. If, on the other hand, you are (like me) a person with good business acumen, know how to brew beer at home and are just looking for some solid specific numbers on costs, equipment, etc. to help with planning, do not buy this book. It reminds me of a Monty Python sketch I heard years ago where a radio show audience was told they were going to be taught how to play the flute. When the time came for the "lesson", they were told to "blow in one end and move their fingers up and down the outside". I found this book about that helpful. There was very little that I already did not know, or could not find on line for free.Get more detail about The Brewers Association's Guide to Starting Your Own Brewery.

Brewing Best Quality

This book gets deep into the science of brewing. If you are a brewer that wants to know more "why" than "how", you will get your money's worth. The drawings for illustrations are well placed, but some may be better with pictures. While most of the science goes over your head unless you have a chemistry background, it is written in a way that you can still grasp the concepts presented. I may read this a second time just to reinforce these. The other thing that I like is it not only the chemistry and science part, but brewing equipment (for BREWERIES, not homebrew equipment!) is covered in great detail in its function and purpose as well. I recently took a tour of New Glarus Brewing and noticed this book on the shelf of the QA/Lab guy's office. A well-written advanced brewer's book.Get more detail about Brewing.

How's Your Drink?: Cocktails, Culture, and the Art of Drinking Well Decide Now

This book does a relatively thorough job of going through the history of mixed drinks, with some sharp analysis of cultural origins and context. However, when Felten strays from the discussion of drinks themselves and their history, his writing suffers. His conclusion, for example, is both sentimental and rather empty. More significantly though, his treatment of non-liquid media that he considers relevant (which is to say, books and movies in which mixed drinks are a significant theme) is startlingly superficial. He does little more than summarize. This would be a mere annoyance, if not for the fact that one of these summaries includes a detailed spoiler of Raymond Chandler's The Long Goodbye. So, if you haven't read that, like I hadn't when I read this book, this book might piss you off.Get more detail about How's Your Drink?: Cocktails, Culture, and the Art of Drinking Well.

Ultimate Beer Right now

When I received this book I was overwhelmed at how well written it was. This book is filled with a lot of great details and images of all different beers. If you are a beer connoisseur then this is a must for your library. Michael Jackson is by far the world's best beer critic.Get more detail about Ultimate Beer.

Lowest Price The Wines of Burgundy: Revised Edition

I am still in the process of reading this book, but I will say that hundreds of pages -- ok, half of the book -- could've been saved if the tasting notes would've been left out. There are simply too many notes on too many wines. Living in the age of the internet, including this sort of information in a hard copy book is somewhat pointless. It would've been better to create a web database with these tasting notes that can be accessed by the reader, if desired. Personally, I was looking for a good, thorough book on Burgundy, with it's regions, vineyards, winemaking styles, etc. This book has all of that. However, the inclusion of so many tasting notes is overwhelming and seems like filler at times. Just hit on a few of the top producers and leave it at that next time.Get more detail about The Wines of Burgundy: Revised Edition.

Low Price The Essential Cocktail: The Art of Mixing Perfect Drinks

I decided it was time to start finding some more things I'd like to drink other than the 3 things I order at every bar. So I checked a bunch of books on bar tending out of the library. This is by far my favorite so I bought a copy to keep. First, it has a lot of the classic drinks that you'd get at a bar and also lots of others and all the drinks I've made so far are really great. Second, the photos are super - I pick half the drinks just by their looks alone. Third, the stories with each drink just add another layer of fun. I didn't expect to learn anything about the history of cocktails in America, but I have and it's been really fun.Get more detail about The Essential Cocktail: The Art of Mixing Perfect Drinks.

Save The Chateauneuf-du-Pape Wine Book

This book has detail in such minutiae that one cannot help but be impressed. It is also written in a very visual manner so that it's easy for anyone to read. The majority of the book details every producer in CdP , and is very detailed and informative. As a CSW I have read quite a number of books about wine....I am enjoying this one the most.Get more detail about The Chateauneuf-du-Pape Wine Book.
