Save Chado the Way of Tea: A Japanese Tea Master's Almanac

Like Chado this great undertaking in both the original and its translation are labors of love and I recommend the book to anyone even mildly interested in the art of tea and perhaps even more significantly to those who are interested in Japan. The tea ceremony permeates virtually all aspects of Japanese life and although this expertly written and translated work is not a how-do-do book it most certainly is a how-to-understand (and appreciate) book. Every time I pick it up I discover something that deepens my knowledge of tea and of Japan. Just last night was my last tea lesson of the year - a very wonderful occasion. I wish all of you could have shared a bowl of tea with me. Get more detail about Chado the Way of Tea: A Japanese Tea Master's Almanac.

Cheapest Tiny Bubbles: Fizzy Cocktails for Every Occasion, Using Champagne, Prosecco, and Other Sparkling Wines

You can almost hear the bubbles popping as you turn the pages of "Tiny Bubbles". This book is a must-have for those who like fizzy cocktails using Champagne, Prosecco, and other sparkling wines. You'll find recipes for classic drinks, such as the Bellini (a lovely blend of white peaches and Prosecco) and Mimosa (the perennial favorite served at Sunday brunch everywhere--champagne and orange juice). The New Classics section has recipes for previously unheard of drinks, such as South Side Fizz and Dining Car, and many others--all made with interesting ingredients and a bit of the bubbly. There is even a section on bubbly bites--`appetizers especially suited to sparkling drinks, such as Champagne Wild Mushrooms on Mini Crepes and Easy Champagne Chocolate Truffles. You will want to use these recipes when you are celebrating anything or nothing or any time you want to serve something a little different from the standard cocktail or glass of wine. Cheers!Get more detail about Tiny Bubbles: Fizzy Cocktails for Every Occasion, Using Champagne, Prosecco, and Other Sparkling Wines.

Cheap The Beer Drinker's Guide to Munich

Great product. If you would like to get a good feel for Munich, visit some of the biergartens in the book. Pays for itself in less than two coupons (6 provided, although not all 6 locales are convenient). Interesting info on Munich and its biergartens, and getting around the city (and a few great locations outside of the city, i.e. Salzburg). This is the 2nd edition that I've owned. Buying Devil's Cup

This is a quick and enjoyable book. Although I actually did learn quite a bit about an interesting subject, the book is as much of a travel story as it is the history of a foodstuff that has only become ubiquitous during the last several centuries.

I suspect that the search for the roots of coffee is just an excuse for a jaunt around the world, from the rain forests of Africa, to the bleakest coast of the Arabian peninsula, to an art scam in India, across the Atlantic in a tramp steamer and finally a road trip across America. Well, actually, that's a bit of a simplification--I missed a couple of continents.

It is an entertaining book. The author has a wry sense of humor and is an astute observer of human diversity. He's also something of a free spirit, and I have to wonder if his being stopped by Southern Patrolmen looking for drugs came as more of a surprise to him than to the reader.

The book really does operate at two levels, providing an interesting and informative story about the history of coffee, viewing it through contemporary eyes in the many locations where coffee made its way through history, eventually culminating in Starbucks.

Looking for the perfect cuppa joe? Sounds like a good story. Yeah. We can have some fun with that. Ask the barista for another latte grande and enjoy.Get more detail about Devil's Cup.

Purchase South-West France: The Wines and Winemakers

Paul Strang's stories and pithy insights about the wines, politics and passionate growers of South-West France makes for entertaining reading. The tasting notes are spot on as well as the description of the lesser know grape varietals. Strang advocates for these diverse wines that are not well known in the U.S. and even in greater France, but should be. The photographs project the reader into the region and allows the appreciation of the winemakers themselves. My wife and I are using this book to buy wines and also to plan our next visit to South-West France: Cahors, Gaillac, Gascony, Dordogne etc. Get more detail about South-West France: The Wines and Winemakers.

Order The Martini: An Illustrated History of an American Classic

The book arrived in like-new condition, as advertised, securely wrapped (but without padding, which might have been unnecessary). My only complaint is that "Media Mail" is painfully slow, while costing nearly as much as First Class Mail. I would recommend that booksellers spring for the extra 25-75 cents, except when a book's weight otherwise makes Priority Mail mandatory.Get more detail about The Martini: An Illustrated History of an American Classic.

Where To Buy Handbook of Enology, The Chemistry of Wine: Stabilization and Treatments (Volume 2, 2)

This is a standard reference that everyone involved in winemaking should own. If more wine journalists bought and read these volumes we would not have to see so many myths and misunderstandings in print. My only objection is the high price, making it almost impossible to buy for the amateur wine enthusiast that is interested in wine chemistry.Get more detail about Handbook of Enology, The Chemistry of Wine: Stabilization and Treatments (Volume 2, 2).

Rum Top Quality

By far the most superficial and poorly researched book on rum available on Amazon. The rum books by Plotkins and Curtis are FAR better. Seems the author spent his research money on Che Guevara t-shirts and prostitutes during his trip to Cuba. Mind you, this opinion comes from a native of the Caribbean basin who has lived/visited nearly every rum producing country in the Western Hemispher over the past 15 years.

I thought I bought a book about rum. Not some Brit's blind romance with the falied Cuban revolution and the Nicaraguan Sandinistas, while blaming Britain and the U.S. for all of the problems in the Caribbean. Next time spend more than a week in my region of the world, without Cuban/Nicaraguan government minders, to get a real feel for the region and our rich rum making tradition.Get more detail about Rum.
