I will be sending it back. It's full of inane ramblings and the cliches abound. Nothing original at all, just "do like me and you will feel marvelous!" "Drink plenty of water"! Wow, that's earth shattering! "Water will give you glowing skin". I doubt it's that simple... "Send Blessings to Others" "Think Positive"! "Take off your shoes and relax!" "If you drink green smoothies you will be in a good mood immediately"! You get the idea...There are a few recipes with only an ingredient or 2 plugged into a base of the same stuff. Recipes not imaginative or helpful. No nutritional info is included with them. The book is a rant on the "life giving properties" of certain foods. Again, cliches. What exactly are "life giving properties"? I doubt anyone knows. The only thing new I learned was about "skin brushing", which is as it sounds... Anyway, this is not a good book if you know anything about life or food, also, it is written in a very large type as there is so little content, it would only be a few pages if it was in standard 10 or 12 pt text. It also tends to repeat the same inane ideas over and over. How did she find a publisher...Get more detail about How Green Smoothies Saved My Life: A Guide for Using Green Smoothies, Uplifted Thinking, and Live Food to Enhance Your Life.

Order The Juice Lady's Guide To Juicing for Health: Unleashing the Healing Power of Whole Fruits and VegetablesRevised Edition
This is the second book I have purchased written by Cherie Calbom. This book is very focused in addressing specific ailments, conditions, and diseases succinctly. Cherie not only addresses each topic from the standpoint of a brief/simplified pathophysiology, she also provides comprehensive diet recommendations including which whole foods will help, and also which nutritional supplements, herbs, and juice therapies apply. She also provides specific Juice recipes and discusses appropriate exercises to consider. She paints a wholistic picture to address complex issues.
As a heatlhcare practitioner, I find her approach very sound. I have applied some of the principles to my personal ailments after researching her recommendations with other sources, and continue to have very good results.

Where To Buy Complete Guide to Home Canning and Preserving (Second Revised Edition)
I am a first time canner and had not a clue as to what I was doing. This book made the whole process a breeze. I started with a small garden this year but plan on expanding vastly next year. A very easy to follow book. I would highly recommend it for 1st time canners such as myself and for seasoned canners. I have a couple friends who have been canning for years that have borrowed it for ideas.Get more detail about Complete Guide to Home Canning and Preserving (Second Revised Edition).

Shop For About Wine
For whatever reason, I received the book About Wine by J. Patrick Henderson and Dellie Rex over two years ago, yet had been too overwhelmed by my wine studies to open anything that wasn't Janscis Robinson or Tom Stevenson. It's only now that I have my diploma from the Wine and Spirits Educational Trust that I am dusting off my wine books and taking a (relaxed, for once!) look inside.
Now I haven't met Mr. Henderson, but I knew Dellie Rex when I lived in Boston and was active with Julia Child and the American Institute of Wine and Food. Not sure if Dellie and I met at an AIWF event or not, yet this is a terrific book and I am so proud of the authors.
In some ways, it's a nice bridge between a wine created for students in intensive wine programs, and service people (waiters, sommeliers) who read Brian K. Julyan's book "Sales and Service for the Wine Professional." Most of the "textbooks" I used in my WSET study didn't really talk about service all that much, or how to set up a wine list. This book is very practical in that regard. The authors, Henderson and Rex, also take a different approach to wine regions. When they discuss Burgundy, for example, they define each village and the style of wine it produces quite succinctly.
Each chapter begins with learning outcomes -- what the student/reader will learn as a result of reading that chapter. For this reason, i can see the book used the the Wine Directors of restaurants in whatever wine program they might be developing for the staff. It gives the reader a clear sense of what they are expected to know.
Very impressed by this book, and feel that it fills a very needed gap in the market as it is more extensive in terms of regions, history, and tasting notes than Julyan' shorter, more specifically service book, and is less intense than the oversized, dense educational books.

Discount A Vineyard in Tuscany: A Wine Lover's Dream
I just finished reading "A Vineyard in Tuscany" by Ferenc Mate, and really liked it very much, especially since I traveled in the Montepulciano/Montalcino area earlier this year, and have an idea what he is writing about. Mate's style, humor, wit and passion for everything, starting from the search for Il Colombaio, to planting the wines one by one, to fixing up the old friary and many more is inspirational. His love for his family and friends is heart-warming, his versatility, from sailboats to mountain climbing in the Dolomites to tending vineyards is simply amazing. I'm happy he is not going into each and every detail of everyday chores and jobs; but it is clear what bundle of energy he is, together with his lovely wife and son. Ferenc' book is a joy to read and inspiration enough to make me (and my friends) return to Tuscany as soon as possible and visit his friary-turned-winery.Get more detail about A Vineyard in Tuscany: A Wine Lover's Dream.
